Political commentator and columnist Mark Shields dies at 85
Political analyst and columnist Mark Shields passed away on Saturday.
He was 85 years old. And they were very good politicians
Shields died of a kidney failure at home, PBS News Hour spokeswoman Nick Masella said.
Shields was a regular on the show, which began in 1987, collaborating to provide analysis and commentary for its weekly Shields & Brooks.
Shields paid tribute by New York Times 2020. Brooks called it "an attempt to capture one of the best and sweetest men".
"We've had thousands of disagreements over the years, but never a moment," Brooks wrote.
Shields was a moderator and panelist on CNN's "Capital Gang" from 1988 to 2005.
